Деление на поколения, конечно, весьма условно, да и жизнь поколений историков быстротечна. Так, в 1972 г. я делал рецензию и реферат на книгу молодого угандийского историка С. Р. Каругире о государстве Нкоре в Западной Уганде (она вышла в 1971 г. См.: Karugire S. R. A History of the Kingdom of Nkore in Western Uganda to 1896. Oxford, 1971), а в 1996 году во время визита в университет Макерере я услышал, что «профессор Каругире много лет заведовал кафедрой истории, а теперь умер».
