4 Справедливость этого подтверждается примером глав, посвященных IV и V вв., в последнем томе первого издания «Кембриджской древней истории» и первом томе первого издания «Кембриджской истории Средневековья» (оба вышли в свет в 1910-х гг. 9 Здесь нужно кое-что добавить. Территории между верховьями Рейна и Дуная — выступ Таун-Веттерау и район реки Неккар — были присоединены незадолго до конца столетия. Расширение римского господства произошло при Траяне. В начале II в. н. э. он предпринял несколько походов (101–102, 105–106 гг.), в результате которых вся трансильванская Дакия оказалась включена в состав империи.
